How We Started

Our Story

D&D Body Shop & Detail Club, Inc was founded in 2001 when Jose & Maria Torres decided to combine their experiences and knowledge and start a body shop. It initially started in Burlingame as a small detail shop. Soon, it quickly grew and expanded to Amphlett Boulevard in San Mateo, where it became a full-service auto body repair facility.

D&D is an abbreviation for their sons’ names—David & Derek. While Derek is currently serving the country as an Air Force Drone Pilot, David works at D&D Body Shop & Detail Club, Inc as the General Manager.

Before D&D Body Shop & Detail Club, Inc came into being, Jose worked as a painter for 20+ years and dreamed of opening up a repair shop, while Maria—the driving force behind D&D’s beginning—ran a successful daycare center. As immigrants, Jose & Maria had come to America seeking a better future. They have since been blessed with the opportunity to accomplish their goal and have been serving the San Mateo community for the last 20 years.

Our goal at DnD Auto Body Shop is to manage your claim and the repairs as efficiently as possible. We are also well-versed in your insurance company’s claims process and are familiar with their local adjusters, which helps us complete estimates and repairs swiftly.

When dealing with your insurance company, they may attempt to direct you to their preferred body shop for repairs. While “steering” is illegal in California, it still occurs frequently. Don’t feel pressured or coerced into choosing a specific shop just because the insurance company suggests it. By law, you have the right to select the repair shop of your choice.
